The world today is no longer defined by stability, it is defined by uncertainty.
We are witnessing not only physical conflicts across regions, but also a widening economic war: supply chains are fragmenting, trade is weaponized, and financial systems are increasingly politicized. At the same time, climate volatility is intensifying, and social tensions are rising in many parts of the world.
In such an environment, a fundamental shift is taking place.
People are no longer choosing where to live based solely on economic opportunity. Increasingly, they are asking a more essential question: Where can I live safely, peacefully, and sustainably?
This is a profound transformation. It marks the emergence of a new global priority, the search for resilient places to live.
Today’s globally mobile individuals, investors, professionals, retirees, and even families, are redefining their criteria. They seek political stability, moderate climate, reliable healthcare, and a high quality of life. They want places that are not only beautiful, but also secure. Not only serene, but also connected. Not only secluded, but also supported by strong infrastructure and emergency systems.
In short, the world is shifting from mobility to relocation, from tourism to long-term living.
This is where Indonesia enters the global conversation in a new and powerful way.
Indonesia possesses a rare combination of attributes that align directly with this emerging demand. Our geography offers climate comfort without extreme seasonal shocks. Our archipelagic nature provides space, thousands of islands that enable low-density, high-quality living environments. Our society is anchored in cultural harmony and community values, offering a sense of belonging that is increasingly scarce in many parts of the world.
Equally important, Indonesia is politically stable within a dynamic democratic framework and continues to play a growing role in regional and global affairs. Meanwhile, our healthcare sector is evolving, with increasing capacity to support both domestic and international needs.
Simply put, Indonesia has what the world is beginning to look for.
However, there is a strategic gap.
Indonesia is still largely positioning itself as a tourism destination, promoting short-term visits, experiences, and attractions. While this remains important, it is no longer sufficient. The global market is shifting beyond tourism. It is moving toward long-term stays, second homes, and even permanent relocation.
We must recognize this shift and respond accordingly.
Indonesia has the opportunity to reposition itself, not just as a place to visit, but as a global living destination for a resilient future.
This requires a new approach.
First, we must move from developing tourist destinations to creating integrated living zones, areas that combine residential communities, healthcare facilities, green spaces, and reliable infrastructure. These are not resorts; they are ecosystems designed for long-term living.
Second, we must strengthen our healthcare anchors. Access to high-quality medical services is no longer optional, it is a decisive factor in relocation decisions. Strategic partnerships with international institutions and the development of world-class medical hubs will be critical.
Third, regulatory frameworks must evolve to support long-stay ecosystems. Visa policies, property ownership structures, and investment pathways need to be aligned with the needs of global residents, not just visitors.
Finally, we must redefine our narrative.
Indonesia should not only be seen as a destination of beauty, but as a place of peace, stability, and future security. A place where individuals and families can build a life, not just spend a holiday.
The world today is not merely searching for growth. It is searching for certainty. It is searching for safety. It is searching for quality of life.

In this new global reality, Indonesia is not on the periphery. It is at the center of a powerful opportunity.
If we are able to recognize and act on this shift, Indonesia can emerge not only as a leading tourism destination, but as one of the world’s most important havens for resilient living.
And in an uncertain world, that may be one of the most valuable roles a nation can play.
