Register Their Investment in Sorong, TGEM Will Seriously Build IGNITE Ecopark

PT Trinitan Green Energy Metals (TGEM) recently held an Investment Registration Ceremony in the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Sorong, as well as the signing of the MOU "Land Allocation for the Sorong IGNITE Project" with PT Malomoi Olom Wobok (MOW), which is the operator of the SEZ in Sorong.

The signing of the MOU was carried out by Widodo Sucipto as President Director of TGEM and Gabriel Hasahatan Simanjuntak as President Director of MOW, and was also witnessed by Acting Regent of Sorong Regency, represented by Suroso, S.I.P., MA, as Assistant II for Economics and Development of Sorong Regency, and Richard Tandiono as Chairman of TGEM.

Meanwhile, the ceremonial registration of TGEM investment in the SEZ in Sorong was marked by the submission of a bundle of investment registration documents by Widodo Sucipto to Salmon Samori as the KEK Administrator, and witnessed also by Suroso, S.I.P., MA, as Assistant II for Economics and Development of Sorong Regency, and Richard Tandiono as Chairman of TGEM.

Those activities are a follow-up to TGEM's plan to build a Class 1 Nickel processing area in the SEZ in Sorong, which is projected to be the first integrated Eco Industrial Park in Indonesia known as Indonesia Green Nickel Integrated Technology Ecopark (IGNITE Ecopark).

IGNITE Ecopark will use Hydrometallurgical Step Temperature Acid Leach (STAL) Technology as the main technology for extracting Nickel, and is supported by various supporting industries, especially for energy, gas, as well as chemical and waste management, by prioritizing environmental sustainability and emission reduction.

According to the President Director of TGEM, Widodo Sucipto, Sorong Regency has the potential as a center for the nickel industry, because it is located in one of the central locations of nickel ore reserves in Indonesia. In addition, Widodo also praised the readiness of the facilities owned by the SEZ in Sorong, such as the availability of adequate energy, gas, and ports.

Widodo believes that the project and investment carried out by TGEM in the SEZ in Sorong will grow positively, and when it is running, it will certainly be able to absorb the potential of local workers in Sorong Regency. Therefore, Widodo continued, he and the entire ranks of PT Trinitan Green Energy Metals (TGEM) requested support from the Sorong SEZ operator, SEZ administrator, the Sorong Regency Government and OPD for the continuity of the project and TGEM's investment in the SEZ in Sorong.

During that MOU signing ceremony which was held on Monday, October 10, 2022, Suroso, S.I.P., MA, as Assistant II for Economics and Development of Sorong Regency, who represents the Acting Regent of Sorong Regency also expressed his gratitude to TGEM for their willingness to invest in the SEZ in Sorong, as well as hoping that this investment can become a driving force for the regional economy, and be able to provide a multiplier effect for the economic in Sorong Regency.

Suroso also emphasized the commitment of the Sorong Regency Government to support the development of investment coming into Sorong Regency, as well as to encourage discussions on further steps between TGEM and related regional agencies and officials.
